I made a video few weeks ago comparing stick vacuum cleaners and in that video I gave quite a few Dyson alternatives. But I realize there are a lot of Dyson fans amongst you all. I received quite a few requests to help understand “IS IT OK TO BUY AN OLDER VERSION OF DYSON”.
I understand this ask. I just did not realize that Dyson had a cult following like Apple too.

Anyway, let’s jump right in. In India - there are mainly 4 Dyson versions that are currently available in May 2021 - the v7 trigger, the v8 Absolute Plus, the v10 Absolute Pro and the v11 Absolute Pro. Let’s jump right into the comparison and at the end I’ll provide my recommendation. If you would like more cost effective versions - you can view this video here :)
I think the Dyson v8 Absolute+ is good enough for most cases and here’s why. I have a summarized recommendation in the end - you can jump right to it if you like.

WHICH DYSON VACUUM TO BUY?
So based on all of this:
If your usecase is dusting only and not household cleaning - you can just go with the v7 trigger. But remember though, it’s a fairly old model but Dyson has indicated they do support it.
V8 is an older model but one of the most popular models in Dyson India and per Dyson support - the spares will continue to be available for the foreseeable future. It does have lower suction and lower battery life - but the suction is good enough to give very good household cleaning. The plus on the v8 side is it is lighter than the v11 - people have indicated the v11 can be heavier to hold.
The two main things I find lacking in the V8 is the battery life - 40 min vs 60 min. Dyson has made improvements in the shape of the vacuum dust bin between v8 and v11 which has made the battery more efficient. The second related reasons is the swappable battery. If you generally need to run the vacuum for longer - the v8 may not be a good option.
If these two are not of concern - I think v8 is definitely giving a lot of value at almost 17k lower pricing than the v11.
If you have the budget - then you could go for the v11 - which is a newer model and has some improved attachments, suction power compared and most importantly a swappable battery - which is a big win in my opinion.
