Ok - it’s that time of the year when many of us deep clean the house. Let me take you along with me. In my deep clean sessions, I try to tackle areas which I don’t clean regularly and obviously - I don’t deep clean everything at once. Many of these were done over a few days.

I have spoken extensively in the past about my preference of using cordless vacuums over corded vacuums - I won’t repeat myself again today. KITCHEN DEEP CLEANING WITH DYSON VACUUM CLEANER
Let’s start with the kitchen. Like many of you I deep clean around the change of the season - spring or vasant is one of them. The kitchen has many ignored areas that we probably don’t handle during our regular cleaning run - because the effort it takes to clean it is so much.
When was the last time you cleaned your drawers and cupboards in the kitchen? You have to remove the vessels, vacuum the dust and food particles which have settled from god knows when, wipe it down if required, then put back the vessels. Yes, before you tell me anything - these brushes were washed before I used it in my kitchen cupboards and drawers.
The second area in the kitchen is on top of the appliances. I clean the top of the microwave regularly, but the fridge - again ignored for a long time. This is a breeding ground for dust, ideally I should be cleaning this more often than once in 6 months.
For both of these - I’m using the Dyson soft dust brush or combination tool.
BEDROOM DEEP CLEANING WITH DYSON VACUUM CLEANER
Next day I decided to tackle the bedroom.
We spend (or are expected to spend) one third of our lives on the bed. While we do wash sheets on a weekly basis, the mattress itself can collect dust over time and needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. Dyson v11 again has a special attachment, mini motorized brush or mattress tool, that can be used for removing dust from upholstery. Very very useful. Many regular corded and cordless vacuums do not have this attachment - per my reviews done earlier.
The other ignored areas are the corners and joints of the cot. Have you seen how much cotton like dust and dust mites are collected here? I'm using the crevice tool available with Dyson that can help to collect all of this dust.
When was the last time you cleaned the curtains or blinds? I normally give it for dry cleaning once a year or once in 2 years but similar to your mattresses and sofas, fabric in the curtains can also collect dust. It is a bit cumbersome to do with a vacuum, but I do it using the mini motorized brush - which works great for upholstery.
For mattresses and sofas, we need a vacuum with a good suction capacity. With 185AW, Dyson v11 does a great job of cleaning mattresses, sofas and upholstery.

Let’s tackle the other area where we spend most of our time - the living room.
As many of you know, I use the robot vacuum for cleaning on a day to day basis. BUT, my current robot does not go under low lying furniture and a lot of dust can get collected under it. So I use the Dyson cordless vacuum to clean in these areas. For hardwood floors, I’m using the soft roller cleaner head attachment which is ideal for hard wood / tile / granite flooring or high pile carpets like the shaggy rug. If you have low pile carpets, you can use the other nickel torque drive attachment.
I do clean the sofas on a regular basis, but it does get cleaned as a part of the deep clean too. I find it unbelievable to see so much dust collected on the sofas. Again here, similar to the mattresses, I’m using the mini motorized brush or the mattress attachment.
Window railings are the most boring area to clean for me! So much dust gets collected and I don’t end up doing it on a regular basis. So during deep clean, this is the other area that gets cleaned. I’m using the combi tool for this purpose. I also frequently use the quick release extension hose - which makes it convenient to navigate the vacuum cleaner to all parts of the window railings.

Next are the walls and ceiling
Fans can collect a LOT of dust. Ideally, doing this on a regular basis helps to keep it really clean. I’m can use either the combination tool or the soft brushing attachments along with the uptop adaptor to reach the top of the fans.
Frames, mirrors and wall sideboards are again ignored quite a bit. As you can see on the screen, it can collect TONS of dust if not maintained on a regular basis. Not just the front surface, the top surface can also get very dirty. I’m using the soft dusting brush for cleaning these - which I do on a regular basis as well.
Light fixtures can get super dirty too. I’m using the soft dust or combi tool to clean this. Make sure you don’t have the light on when cleaning this.
Cobwebs are tackled on a regular basis so I’m not going to cover that today.
Now that we have covered pretty much most areas I wanted to deep clean, let’s see how much dust has been collected through this process. Can you see?! It’s unbelievable how much it is able to collect.
