By now, you all know my love for automation of so many aspects of life. And my lethargy for cooking on a daily basis. So when I heard that there are a few startups in Bangalore making cooking robots, I had to try it out! Up sent me their DelishUp product to try out for about a week and I’ll show you my experience. This video is not sponsored in any way. Just me bringing some innovative and exciting products in front of you!

Now let’s get to it - I made a number of things including chilli garlic noodles, chapati atta, khichdi, and matar paneer using this appliance. And the taste was yumm! I found that it is very useful for people who are not adept at cooking or are bored to cook daily (like me) or want handsoff cooking - well as much as it’s possible.
There is a tablet mounted on the device itself. For the matar paneer I’m going to cook today, I can see all the ingredients I need and the quantity of the ingredients. You can adjust the recipe to cook for 1 to 4 people. The device also has a weighing scale. The recipe gives the accurate quantity in weight that we have to use for the dish. Along with the product, they also send 3 measuring spoons - a ½ tea spoon they call as small, 1 tea spoon that they call as medium and 1 table spoon that they call as large.
Now first I’m going to prep all my ingredients. The great thing is - they also give the amount of salt to be used. And not necessarily mention it as salt to taste or swad anusaar - like most recipes you see online do. That’s always my biggest pet peeve. Yes, you can adjust salt later to taste, but the bare minimum should be mentioned in recipes, in my opinion atleast.
Let’s talk about cutting - we don’t need to fine cut vegetables ourselves. Vegetables like onions and tomatoes I’m going to use here need to be cut into 2 or 4 pieces. The appliance has blades like you get in the mixer grinder which can cut vegetables at different sizes by adjusting the speed. What it cannot do is cut in cubes. That we have to do ourselves - like paneer in this case today. When the blades move slowly, it is just stirring the dish. When it is moving fast - it is actually chopping. There are 12 different speeds that it automatically selects based on the step in the recipe.
Let’s talk about the ease of use of the recipe - the recipe shows you step by step what needs to be done. This is especially useful for beginners or when you are trying out a new recipe. For example, the appliance will first state the ingredients we have to add and start the process. Then after that is done, it will beep and let us know the next set of ingredients to add and so on. Once everything is added, we don’t need to constantly stir and monitor the cooking. It gives an alert or beep when the next step is due.
The vessel is a combination of the mixer grinder and an electric pressure cooker or instant pot or rice cooker. In addition to the blades, there is a heating pad at the bottom that is used for cooking.
While the entire recipe takes about 30+ minutes, I was near the vessel only for about 5 min where there was a prompt to add additional ingredients and maybe another 5 min to prep for the ingredients. During the rest of the process, I was doing my own thing. So handsoff!
Once the dish is ready, you can easily scrape out the sides with the spatula they provide with the appliance itself. Now transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy!
Since it’s only one vessel, it’s easy to clean. They also have given a rinse feature where you can put water into the vessel and add a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap. And it rinses the vessel and cleans it - I would say it is upto 70-80%. We will need another round of cleaning - but that is easier. Since the vessel is stainless steel - it can be used in the dishwasher as well.
Overall I found the appliance very useful and something that I could use for my daily cooking needs.
Taste was good
It was super convenient
And so many recipes are inbuilt (and expanding regularly)- so no need to eat the same food frequently
Some areas where I felt it could be better was
More recipes for south Indian dishes - but this may come as they can add additional recipes over the air
The vessel is a big clunky - transferring food to a serving bowl was a bit cumbersome. So maybe a large handle that makes it easier to transfer would be good
And a personal preference - use of stainless steel and wood instead of silicon for the spoon and spatula.
It would be a great plus if we can get our moms to add their recipes in there - I know that adding recipes in is a feature they are working on. Then mom’s yummy food consistently available at home :)
It’s a made in India product for Indian kitchens, so give it a consideration if you, like me, want to stop eating boring food every day.
