Let me start by saying - the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2i is NOT a new version of the Mop-P. Infact it is an inferior version to the Mop-P and really the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2Pro is the next generation version of the Mop-P. Been getting quite a few questions on this “new model” of the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop-P and in this video, I’ll try to clarify that.

Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2i is not a bad robot vacuum. It is definitely useful in certain scenarios which I’ll explain through this video. My recommendation of the best robot vacuums are in the video I’ll link for you up here and that still holds.
First thing that’s missing in the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2i - is the map management. It does show you a live map of the cleaned areas but it does not save a map. So what does this mean? You cannot selectively state which room it has to clean, you cannot set no go zones or no clean zones or no mop zones, you cannot selectively do spot cleaning. Your only option is to clean the full house. Unless you keep the robot in a room and lock the door :) Many users and I myself find this map feature very useful - as it helps schedule or send the robot to specific rooms at different times of day - for example, you may want to clean your kids room twice a day in the morning before play time and evening after playtime is over. So if this feature is useful for you - then Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2i is a no-go. An alternative option to select is highlighted in the view products section.
Second thing that’s different is the navigation technology - the MI Robot Vacuum Mop-P and Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2Pro use a LiDAR based navigation - which gives a more precise navigation while Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2i uses Gyro and optical navigation. It does have 25 High-precision Sensors which aims to make up for the precision that you get from the LiDAR based navigation. The positive is that - since it does not use LiDAR based navigation, it does not have a LiDAR head - which means that the height of the robot vacuum is lower at 3.2 inches compared to 3.7 in and 3.94 in in the Mop-P and 2Pro respectively. So if you have low lying furniture, the 2i is a better option.
Battery capacity is lower as well - at 2600mah compared to 3200 mah in the Mop-P and 5200 mah in the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2Pro. So lower run time at 100min. While 100 min is sufficient for smaller houses, for medium to large houses, it will recharge and resume at the same spot it had stopped. Which is good. But still a full charge will take a considerable amount of time - so your overall cleaning time will go up.
The dry bin is smaller at 450ml and the wet bin is slightly larger at 270ml. You can run vacuum only, mop only or vacuum + mop simultaneously in all three models. This is same for all three models.
It does have a smart home integration with Alexa and Google Assistant where you can start, pause, or send the robot vacuum back to its home or dock.
So is it worth buying the 2i? I think what peeved me is that it is being called the new model of Mop-P - which is not the case. It is useful to buy the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2i if:
you do not need granular control of sending your robot vacuums to different rooms at different times. This may also be ideal for seniors in your house where they only want to start and stop the robot vacuum - although it does not come with a remote.
You live in a small to medium house - as battery capacity and run time is shorter
So what are the alternatives:
Since the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop-P is not available any more, at a slightly higher price but with map management and overall better specifications, I still recommend the Viomi SE at a price of around 22k at the time of making this video. They are ideal for homes upto 2000 sq ft for a single run. Viomi SE has only one bin - which is a combo bin for vacuum and mopping. If you want, you can buy an extra bin for Viomi SE for vacuum only.
From the latest robot vacuums, I recommend either the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop 2Pro or the Ecovacs N8. Both have similar specifications as you see on the screen - but if you plan to add an auto cleaning dock in the future (which in my opinion is a great addition), you should consider the Ecovacs N8.
If you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner with an auto cleaning dock - then I recommend the Viomi Alpha S9. It has a 5200mah battery with a 2700pa suction power. It can save 5 maps, has Lidar based navigation, and a 3L bin that can save dust upto 30 days (sometimes longer).
