WASH A CHIMNEY FILTER IN A DISHWASHER
We do use a lot of oil and spices in our cooking. And this reflects in our kitchen chimney - which captures all the oil and grunk from our cooking. Before my dishwasher, I used to wash this by hand. Soak it in hot water with baking soda for 30 minutes and then scrub to take out all the oil stains. However, its extremely easy to wash this using the dishwasher. The high temperature combined with detergent can cut through tough grease without any effort. No more hard core scrubbing and damaging your hands.
WASH A MICROWAVE TURNTABLE IN A DISHWASHER
We don’t clean the inside of our microwave often enough. Ideally, if you use your microwave often, once a week or once in two weeks - we should wipe the insides of the microwave to remove all food residue left over on the walls of the microwave. The turntable of the microwave gets quite dirty with food dropping, poured over liquids and so on. This turntable is made of glass. And what’s the best way to clean glass - you guessed it right, in a dishwasher. Try it and let me know what you think!
WASH FRIDGE SHELVES IN A DISHWASHER
Cleaning fridge is a deep cleaning therapeutic activity in itself. Yes, you can clean by hand or cloth with some cleaning chemical or vinegar solution. Or make it super easy for yourself by using the dishwasher to clean it. Most often it’s made of glass - so easy peasy!
WASH A SOAP DISHES, TOOTHBRUSH HOLDERS IN A DISHWASHER
Tell me the truth, when was the last time you washed your soap dish or tooth brush holder? If you are using plastic or wood, then you have no option but to wash by hand. But if you are like me and use ceramic - then my just job became much easier and I can now use my dishwasher to wash these. If you want to keep your family protected from bacteria, use the dishwasher on a bi-weekly basis to clean this
WASH GLASS PLANTERS IN A DISHWASHER
Do you grow plants in any available glass container or mason jar? Then you are like me. I have water based plants in all my bathrooms and some other rooms - cos plants tend to brighten up any available space. I do change the water frequently - but anytime you store water for a period of time, it leaves a mark on the glass sides - especially if you have hard water in your home. The dishwasher can be used to clean up this in no time. Make sure you use the top rack to store this in your dishwasher. I do it now every month - to make sure my glass planters are clean and easy on the eyes.
WASH KEYS IN A DISHWASHER
I’m tired of sanitizing everything these days. Every time we take the keys out of the home and use it for pressing buttons on the lift, we bring it back and sanitize it with liquid handwash. You know what you can also do? Sanitize your keys regularly in your dishwasher! Make sure you remove any electronic fittings - if it is a car key - or your key chains - if it is made of non-dishwasher safe materials. Again - use the top rack or the cutlery compartment for this.
WASH YOUR GARDENING TOOLS IN A DISHWASHER
Your gardening tools will have pesticide residue, fungi and other sticky residue from using it on your plants. If it does not have a wooden handle, give this a wash through the dishwasher - use the top rack to save it from extreme heat and make sure to dry it immediately to prevent rusting
